MULTI-ENGINE RATING (MER)

Purpose

Develop competence in multi-engine operations, including systems management, asymmetric handling, performance planning, and decision-making under higher workload.

Training Outcomes

  • Operate multi-engine aircraft within performance and limitations
  • Demonstrate asymmetric handling and associated procedures
  • Apply multi-engine systems knowledge and checklist discipline
  • Maintain procedural consistency and sound judgement in abnormal scenarios

Training Content & Hours

  • Ground Training : 42 hours
  • Simulator Training : 10 hours (Redbird MCX)
  • Flight Training : 12 flying hours (Piper Seminole PA44)

Entry Requirements

  • Hold a valid CPL and IR
  • Medical: Class 1 medical examination

Privileges

  • Act as pilot-in-command of aircraft with more than one engine
